Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops deployed under Operation Amani Boni (OAB) recently took part in an exhilarating inter-service football match against Kenya Navy personnel based at Kenya Navy Manda Base, in a lively display of fitness, teamwork and camaraderie.
The main encounter pitted Officers against Warrant Officers and Sergeants in a high-tempo contest marked by crunching tackles, slick passing and sustained intensity. The Officers emerged victorious with a 4–2 win, much to the delight of cheering soldiers on the sidelines.
Leading by example, Brigadier William Kamoiro spearheaded the attacking unit, turning the match into a lesson in command presence on the pitch. Calm and composed in possession, he dictated the tempo with precise passing, tracked back with well-timed tackles when required, and surged forward to link play and drive attacks. His relentless pressing, sharp communication and decisive touches rallied teammates from the first whistle to the final minutes.
Watching closely from the touchline was the OAB Commander, Brigadier Meshack Kishoyian, whose presence underscored command support for morale-boosting initiatives that enhance physical readiness, cohesion and esprit de corps during sustained operations.
Speaking after the match, Brigadier Kishoyian praised the unity and fighting spirit displayed by the troops, noting that such engagements strengthen trust and teamwork across ranks and units. He emphasized that operations in the Boni Enclave demand sustained physical endurance, mental resilience and strong teamwork.
In this context, troop fitness and morale remain key pillars of success under Operation Amani Boni. Activities such as inter-service sports not only keep personnel physically fit, but also help ease operational stress and strengthen bonds across ranks and units—ensuring OAB forces remain alert, cohesive and fully prepared to effectively execute their security mandate.
