COMMANDER KENYA AIR FORCE COMMISSIONS NEW JUNIOR SCHOOL CLASSROOMS AT MOI FORCES ACADEMY

In a boost to educational infrastructure and the welfare of the military fraternity, the Commander Kenya Air Force Major General Bernard Waliaula on 23 January 2026 presided over the official opening of three newly constructed Junior School classrooms at Moi Forces Academy.

The project aims to ease congestion and provide a conducive learning environment to support the Competency Based Education transition. The event began with a tour of the new facilities, during which the Commander expressed satisfaction with the quality of workmanship and the timely completion of the project.

In her welcoming remarks, the School Principal Madam Jacqueline Okwaro conveyed appreciation to the Chief of Defence Forces and the Kenya Air Force leadership for their continued support of the institution. “As an institution, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to nurturing responsible, disciplined and academically strong learners who will grow into citizens of integrity and serve our nation with honour,” said Madam Okwaro. “We thank the Commander for gracing this ceremony and for ensuring our learners have the tools they need to thrive,” added Madam Okwaro.

In his keynote address, Major General Waliaula underscored the importance of quality education in national development, noting that the role of the Kenya Defence Forces extends beyond core military duties. “The Kenya Defence Forces remains firmly committed to supporting initiatives that empower the next generation,” he stated. “The late General Francis Ogolla, former Chief of Defence Forces, captured this responsibility clearly when he stated: ‘True service to the nation is not only in defending our borders, but also in empowering the next generation to learn, lead and serve with honour,’” said the Commander KAF.

The ceremony was attended by the Base Commander Moi Air Base Brigadier Herbert Wafula, Principal Staff Officers from Kenya Air Force Headquarters, Senior Officers, the Board of Management, Parents Association, Service Members, Teachers and Parents.

The commissioning of the classrooms forms part of a wider Kenya Defence Forces effort to modernize educational facilities within military cantonments, ensuring learners receive quality education while enhancing stability and morale within the Service.
