KDF TROOPS CONDUCT HUMANITARIAN WATER SUPPLY EXERCISE IN WAJIR SOUTH

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops deployed in the Diff area recently conducted a Civil–Military Cooperation (CIMIC) humanitarian operation to deliver emergency water supplies to residents of Abaqhalul Centre in Wajir South Sub-County. The intervention followed a distress call reporting a critical water shortage in the area.

During the exercise, the patrol successfully delivered water into a communal underground tank, providing a vital lifeline to more than 100 households whose primary water source had been depleted as the region continues to experience severe drought conditions.

Speaking during the exercise, the Centre Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Ali, noted that the timely intervention by the KDF would significantly ease the crisis. He observed that the availability of water would enable children to remain in school instead of being forced to search for water under harsh climatic conditions.

Mr. Ali further highlighted that the water delivery would offer much-needed relief to mothers, allowing them more time to care for their families and young children during these challenging times.

The soldiers also assessed the prevailing situation and confirmed that the area is facing a serious water crisis, underscoring the urgent need for sustained humanitarian interventions to mitigate the devastating effects of the prolonged drought.

The mission concluded with residents expressing profound gratitude and blessings to the KDF, reflecting the Force’s continued commitment to protecting lives and supporting communities, in addition to its core security mandate.
