The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) and the University of Nairobi (UON) on Monday 9 February 2026 held a consultative meeting at Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Officers’ Mess to discuss a proposed institutional partnership on information and communication technology systems.
The meeting focused on collaboration between NDU-K and UON on the development of integrated ICT systems to support student enrolment, fees payment and academic administration for NDU-K and its seven Colleges. The discussions also covered the establishment of a learning management system to support teaching and training across the institutions.
Leading the NDU-K delegation, Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs (DVC ASA) Prof. Anne Muigai said that the partnership was a strategic step towards strengthening institutional capacity. “We are keen on leveraging existing expertise to build robust systems that support our academic mission and improve service delivery to our students and staff,” she said.
University of Nairobi Director of ICT Mr. Paul Kariuki said the university is ready to support the initiative through technical collaboration and knowledge sharing. “This engagement allows us to align systems, share best practices and ensure that the solutions developed are secure, scalable and fit for purpose,” he said.
Director of ICT NDU-K, Brigadier General Linus Obim observed that a unified digital architecture is critical for effective administration of a multi-college defence university, noting that the proposed partnership would streamline processes, improve data integrity and enhance coordination across all constituent institutions.
The meeting concluded with both teams agreeing to develop a framework for implementation, including technical assessments and timelines, as NDU-K advances its digital transformation agenda through strategic partnerships.
