The closing ceremony was spearheaded by the Chairperson of the Exercise, Brigadier Paul Koech, Chief of Training, Kenya Defence Forces, who underscored the strategic importance of the conference in reviewing key preparatory activities for the upcoming Command Post Exercise.

Brigadier Koech noted that the Main Planning Conference had provided a critical platform for evaluating progress made in the planning cycle and aligning stakeholders towards the next phase of preparation. He observed that the conference will be followed by the Final Planning Conference scheduled for March 2026, culminating in the conduct of the 14th EAC Armed Forces CPX USHIRIKIANO IMARA 2026 in May 2026 at the Humanitarian Peace Support School, Nairobi, Kenya.

The Chairperson further emphasized that the selected training themes of the exercise remain highly relevant in addressing the contemporary security and humanitarian challenges facing the region. He pointed out that regional joint training exercises such as the CPX are vital in enhancing interoperability among EAC Partner States’ security practitioners and in fostering a unified regional security architecture.

During the three-day conference, delegates achieved several key milestones essential to the successful execution of the exercise. These included the consideration of the exercise special ideas, review of administrative and logistics support plans, confirmation of exercise timelines, confirmation of Partner States’ participation in the 14th EAC Armed Forces CPX Ushirikiano Imara 2026, review of the Exercise Manning List and Command and Control structures, as well as an update from the Host Nation on the Exercise Site Survey.
