SJCSC 41-2025/26 PARTICIPANTS VISIT KAKUZI PLC AND KENGEN POWER STATIONS

The Senior Joint Command and Staff Course SJCSC 41–2025/26 participants from the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) recently undertook two key visits to prominent Kenyan institutions.

On Thursday 19 February 2026, the allied nations’ course participants led by Brigadier David Chesire, the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor JCSC accompanied by faculty members visited Kakuzi PLC, a leading agricultural enterprise. The group was warmly welcomed by Mr Simon Odhiambo the Executive Head of Corporate Affairs accompanied by the Kakuzi management team.

During the visit, participants observed large scale agribusiness operations, exemplary corporate governance and sustainable farming practices. The visit enabled the participants to gain a deeper appreciation for sustainability and value chain integration, while also seeing practical examples of how private enterprises contribute to national economic resilience.

On Friday 20 February 2026, all the course participants led by the Deputy Commandant/Chief Instructor visited the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) Eastern Region Power Generation facilities. They were received by Engineer Harrison Keter, Power Generation Manager, Eastern Region.

The team toured the Kindaruma, Gitaru and Kamburu Hydroelectric Power Stations, key components of Seven Forks cascade along the Tana River.

The visit aligned with the course curriculum’s objective to broaden participants’ comprehension of the vital nexus between national industrial capacity, particularly reliable energy generation and national security.
