The Defence Forces Job Evaluation Team (DEFJET), in conjunction with Zetech University, successfully conducted a week-long Resettlement and Transition Seminar for personnel from Moi Air Base (MAB). The programme forms part of the Fifth Pillar of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Resettlement, which aims to prepare Service Members for a structured and dignified transition from military service to civilian life.
The seminar focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge and essential life skills necessary for successful transition. Key areas covered included retirement planning, financial management and entrepreneurship, healthy living and wellness, as well as personal development and community integration. The sessions were facilitated by financial, health and nutrition experts drawn from the KDF and Zetech University.
As part of the programme, participants undertook a field visit to a fruit-tree agro ecological Integrated Pest Management (IPM) learning site in Murang’a County owned by a retired Warrant Officer. The visit provided practical exposure to sustainable agribusiness practices and highlighted potential livelihood opportunities that retiring personnel can explore after leaving military service.
The seminar also provided an interactive platform where participants engaged with facilitators through discussions and practical sessions, enabling them to gain valuable insights into investment opportunities, health management and personal development strategies essential for life after military service.
The initiative reflects the continued commitment of the Kenya Defence Forces to support its personnel not only during active service but also as they prepare for life beyond the uniform, ensuring they remain productive and resilient contributors to national development.
