SECURING PEACE, SERVING PEOPLE: KDF CONDUCTS CIVIL-MILITARY OUTREACH IN KOLBIO, GARISSA COUNTY

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops deployed under the security Multi-agency Operation Amani Boni (OAB) conducted a Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) outreach in Kolbio town, Garissa County, reinforcing their commitment to both security and community well-being.

The initiative brought together KDF personnel in a coordinated effort to support vulnerable households while strengthening trust and collaboration between the military and local residents.

As part of the outreach, troops distributed assorted foodstuffs to households experiencing acute food shortages. The donation of essential supplies provided timely relief during Ramadhan, a period marked by fasting, reflection and charity within the Muslim community.

In addition, KDF personnel conducted a medical camp offering accessible healthcare services to residents of Kolbio and its environs. The medical team provided consultations, basic treatment and essential medication for a range of common ailments, attending to both children and adults. This intervention addressed immediate health needs while promoting overall community well-being in an area with limited access to healthcare services.

Speaking during the outreach, KDF commanders underscored the strategic importance of CIMIC initiatives in complementing ongoing security operations under OAB. They noted that fostering strong relationships with local communities enhances cooperation, builds trust, and creates an enabling environment for sustainable peace and security.

This outreach underscores KDF’s dual role as a security provider and a partner in community development. It further highlights the impact of Operation Amani Boni in restoring stability across the coastal region through integrated military and humanitarian interventions.
