ENSURING OPERATIONAL READINESS THROUGH SOLDIER-CENTRIC LEADERSHIP

Operational readiness remains a defining pillar of an effective and responsive military force, requiring continuous evaluation of personnel, systems, administration and combat preparedness. In line with this commitment, the Armoured Brigade commenced its Annual Administrative Inspection at the 76 Armoured Recce Battalion at Kenyatta Barracks, Gilgil, Nakuru County.

The inspection exercise, led by Commander Armoured Brigade, Brigadier (Brig) Alex Kiraguri, brought together officers, service personnel and departmental representatives in a comprehensive assessment aimed at evaluating the Battalion’s preparedness, administrative efficiency and overall operational capability. The annual exercise continues to play a critical role in maintaining professional standards and enhancing combat effectiveness across the formation.

Addressing personnel during the inspection, Brig Kiraguri emphasized the importance of the Commander Kenya Army’s “Soldier-Centric” approach, noting that the welfare, morale and professional growth of soldiers remain fundamental to mission success. He observed that a well-motivated and professionally supported soldier forms the backbone of operational readiness and institutional effectiveness. He further underscored the values of discipline, accountability and teamwork as essential components in sustaining high levels of combat capability across all operational environments. He encouraged personnel to remain committed to excellence in both administrative and operational responsibilities, emphasizing that preparedness is achieved through consistency, professionalism and collective effort.

The ongoing inspection will continue across different sections of the Brigade, focusing on key operational and administrative areas as the Armoured Brigade works to sustain high standards of efficiency, preparedness and mission readiness. The exercise reflects the Kenya Army’s broader commitment to building a professional, agile and combat-ready force capable of responding effectively to evolving security challenges.
