The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) continue to strengthen their bond with communities through impactful Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiatives aimed at promoting social wellbeing, compassion and national unity. Beyond their core mandate of safeguarding the nation, KDF personnel remain committed to supporting vulnerable members of society and fostering hope within local communities.
In line with this commitment, personnel from the 86 Armoured Recce Battalion conducted a CIMIC outreach programme at Victors Children Rescue Centre in Isiolo Town. The initiative highlighted the military’s dedication to community service and the promotion of shared national values through meaningful engagement with children and caregivers.
The visit created an atmosphere of joy and encouragement as soldiers spent time interacting with the children through mentorship sessions, social engagement and the donation of gifts. The outreach not only provided material support but also inspired hope and reassurance among the young residents of the rescue centre.
Speaking during the programme, the Battalion leadership reaffirmed the Kenya Defence Forces’ commitment to serving humanity beyond the traditional defence role. They noted that the KDF mission extends beyond protecting the country’s borders to also supporting communities, nurturing the younger generation and standing with institutions that care for vulnerable children.
The leaders emphasized that investing in children through mentorship and compassionate outreach contributes to building a stronger, more resilient and united society. They further underscored the importance of partnerships between security institutions and communities in advancing social welfare and national cohesion.
Management of Victors Children Rescue Centre expressed deep appreciation for the visit and generous support, noting that the engagement greatly uplifted the morale of both the children and caregivers. They commended the soldiers for demonstrating kindness, humility and genuine concern for the wellbeing of the children.
The outreach programme served as a powerful reminder that acts of compassion and community service remain essential pillars in strengthening trust, hope and unity between the Kenya Defence Forces and the communities they serve.
