Access to quality healthcare remains a cornerstone of healthy communities and sustainable national development. By bringing essential medical services closer to underserved populations, community medical outreaches not only improve the well-being of citizens but also strengthen collaboration between the military, government institutions, the private sector and humanitarian partners.
In pursuit of this shared commitment, the Kenya Navy, in partnership with Bamburi Cement Company, conducted a one-day Community Medical Outreach at Ng’ombeni Primary School in Matuga Sub-county, Kwale County, on 4 July 2026.
The initiative sought to provide free essential healthcare services to residents while fostering stronger civil military relations through meaningful community engagement.
The outreach brought together healthcare professionals from the Kenya Navy, the Kenya Red Cross, Equity Afya and the County Government of Kwale, underscoring the importance of multi sectoral partnerships in expanding access to quality healthcare. The exercise attracted more than 700 residents from Ng’ombeni and the surrounding areas, demonstrating the significant demand for accessible medical services within the community.
Residents received a wide range of free healthcare services, including general medical consultations, screening for hypertension and diabetes, maternal and child health services, health education and counselling, basic laboratory investigations, cervical and breast cancer screening, pharmacy services and dispensing of medication, as well as minor treatment procedures.
The outreach reaffirmed the Kenya Navy’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of communities through humanitarian assistance and civil military cooperation. It also highlighted the enduring value of partnerships in enhancing access to quality healthcare and advancing national development while leaving a lasting positive impact on the lives of the people of Kwale County.
