RALLYING STAKEHOLDERS AHEAD OF THE 3RD EDITION SPORTS FOR PEACE

Preparations for the highly anticipated 3rd Edition of the Sports for Peace Tournament gained momentum as the Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) Committee convened at the Chemolingot Headquarters to review progress and harmonize plans ahead of the event. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Tot, Elgeiyo Marakwet County, from 17th to 23rd August 2026 and is expected to bring together participants and stakeholders from across the 9 counties in a shared commitment to peace, unity, and community resilience.

Over the years, the Sports for Peace has evolved into more than just a sporting event. It has become a transformative platform that brings together people from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering dialogue, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting peaceful coexistence.

By harnessing the unifying power of sport, the initiative continues to reinforce collaboration between communities, security forces and key stakeholders while advancing lasting peace and stability.

The planning meeting was chaired by Brigade Commander Brigadier Ahmed Saman, who commended the committee for its tireless dedication and exemplary teamwork in coordinating the tournament. He lauded the collective efforts of all stakeholders, emphasizing that their commitment and collaboration remain central to the success of the initiative.

Brigadier Saman further encouraged the committee to maintain the current momentum and ensure that all preparations are executed with professionalism and precision, underscoring the tournament’s significance as a cornerstone of peacebuilding and community engagement in the OMU region.
