The Ministry of Defence (MoD) continues to strengthen the capacity and professional development of its civilian workforce through targeted training and institutional development programmes aimed at enhancing efficiency and operational excellence.
It is in line with this that a five-day Professional Enhancement Workshop facilitated by the United States Military Group and the Defence Security Cooperation University (DSCU) was held in Nairobi, bringing together Heads of Department and their Deputies.
The workshop focused on change management, strategic communication and stakeholder analysis, while strengthening institutional leadership and alignment with the Ministry’s objectives. The engagement builds on previous phases of the programme undertaken in April and November 2025, which established the foundation and adaptation phases of the Ministry’s Change Management initiative.
This follows the formal adoption and approval of the Integrated Defence Civilian Staff Management Policy by the Public Service Commission.
Speaking during the workshop, the Secretary Administration, Ministry of Defence, Mr. Masinde, commended the United States Military Group and DSCU for their continued support in strengthening the Ministry’s professional development programmes noting that Kenya and the United States defence partnership remains an important pillar of cooperation and continues to provide opportunities for institutional and professional growth.
The workshop underscores the Ministry’s commitment to developing a highly professional, capable and responsive civilian workforce in support of its mandate and the broader national security objectives.
