To bridge the gap between classroom doctrine and practical command insight, future senior officers must conduct field visits to operational brigades. It is against this background that on 16 October 2026, leadership, Directing Staff and students of the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course (SJCSC 42-2026/27) visited the 110 Mechanized Infantry Brigade at Kenyatta Barracks. Led by Colonel Trevor Ogutu, Head of the Teaching Team, the delegation was received by the Brigade Commander, Colonel Boniface Chomba.
The visit familiarised participants with the structure, organisation and operational roles of an infantry brigade headquarters in the field through briefings and a guided tour of its key components.
This practical engagement forms a core element of the SJCSC curriculum, preparing officers for senior command and staff appointments in the Kenya Defence Forces and partner nations’ militaries.
