Brigadier David Kiprotich Chesire EBS ‘ndu’ (USA), ‘acsc’ (CHINA) ‘psc’ (K)

Brig David K Chesire was enlisted into the Kenya Defence Forces in August 1994 as an Officer Cadet. He Commissioned in November 1995 and was posted to 1st Battalion the Kenya Rifles where he served as Platoon Commander, Company second in Command and later as an Officer Commanding among other appointments.

Brig Chesire has done various Courses including National Defence University (Grade 1) course, Joint Professional Military Education (JPME II) and Senior Level Education, Grade II Staff course, Army Command and Staff course,

Senior Command course, Junior Command course, Senior Leadership Command and Management course, G3 course, Operational Logistics Course, United Nations Military Experts on Mission course, United Nations Staff Officers course, United Nations Civil-Military Cooperation course and Security Sector Reform course.

Brig Chesire has held Command, Staff and Training appointments. He has previously served as Commander of 8 Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Deputy Brigade Commander 4 Brigade, Commander of the Multi Agency Security Operation in the Boni enclave and North Eastern Region, Deputy Commander/Chief Instructor at Defence Forces Recruits Training School (DFRTS), Staff Officer at Brigade level, JTF HQ and Service HQs, and Directing Staff at Joint Command and Staff College.

He served in the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) as an Operations Officer in 2001 – 2002 and United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) as a Military Liaison Officer in 2007 – 2008. He also worked in the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) as a Military Assistant to the Director in 2017 – 2019.

Brig Chesire holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defence University, Washington DC – USA; Master of Military Science from Nanjing Army Command and Staff College Nanjing – China; Master of Science in Defence Analysis (National Security Affairs) from the Naval Postgraduate School, California – USA; Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Studies from the University of Nairobi, and Bachelor of Arts from Kenyatta University.
Born on 04 December 1968, he is married to Dorcas and blessed with 5 children.
