Colonel Ogutu S Trevor currently serves as the Col HOTT/SI at the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC). He was enlisted in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on 16 August 1994 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 29 November 1995. On commissioning, was posted to 50th Air Calvary Battalion, now Kenya Army Corp of Aviation (KACA), marking the beginning of his distinguished career in the Kenya Army as a squadron pilot upon graduation.

Colonel Ogutu holds a Master’s degree in National Security and Strategy, from the National Defence University-Kenya. (NDU-K), a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in International Relations from Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) and Bachelors of Science (BSc CT) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).  

Prior to his current appointment, he held several key appointments; Col Operations Other than War (OOTW), Directing Staff at Joint Warfare Centre (JWC), Staff Officer I, Aviation Safety & Standards, SO II Aviation Tech, Staff Officer II Aviation Safety & Standards, Aviation Maintenance Officer and Squadron Pilot on completion of Initial Entry Rotary Wing Helicopter Course (IERWHC).  

Colonel Ogutu served with the United Nations Mission in Central (MINUSCA), deployed in the Joint Task Force Bangui (JTFB), Africa Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS), deployed at the Force Headquarters (FHQ) El-Fasher as Staff Officer of the J6 (Communication and Technical Support) contributing immensely to international peacekeeping efforts.
