Lieutenant General David Kipkemboi Ketter was born on 27th November 1968 in Nandi County. He is a committed Roman Catholic and a devoted family man, blessed with a supportive spouse and three children. His family has remained a constant source of strength and inspiration throughout his journey in uniform.

Lieutenant General David Kipkemboi Ketter is a seasoned and highly accomplished officer in the Kenya Defence Forces. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed to this prestigious position on 27 June 2025, following a distinguished career spanning more than three decades in military service.

He commissioned on 3rd August 1990 and began his military career as a young Officer in the Kenya Army Artillery Corps and later joined Kenya Army Ordnance Corps. Through hard work, loyalty, and professional excellence, he steadily rose through the ranks, serving in various command, staff and instructional roles that have shaped his broad strategic perspective and operational depth.

His past appointments include Commander Kenya Army Ordnance Corps, Chief of Logistics at Kenya Army Headquarters, Commander Kahawa Garrison and Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces – Personnel and Logistics. He has also served as Senior Stores and Provision Officer, Officer in Charge of key logistics installations and in a United Nations peacekeeping mission, where he represented Kenya with honour on the global stage.

Lieutenant General Ketter is an alumnus of the National Defence College in Tanzania. He has also undertaken numerous specialised military courses both locally and abroad, including advanced logistics training in the United States of America and regional leadership programmes at the International Peace Support Training Centre.

Known for his calm demeanor, strategic clarity and results-oriented leadership, Lieutenant General Ketter has played a vital role in shaping logistics policies, strengthening operational support systems, and mentoring the next generation of military leaders. His career is marked by integrity, excellence, and a deep sense of patriotism.

In recognition of his exemplary service, he has been decorated with several honours, including the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), the Constitution Medal, the 20 Years of Nyayo Era Medal, Silver Jubilee, Linda Nchi, Africa Union and the United Nations Medal.
