KDF Forces in Wajir County, recently engaged the local community through a community tournament dubbed “Together as One.” The initiative was aimed at enhancing cooperation and reinforcing the existing cordial relationship between the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the local populace.
The tournament brought together teams from Konton, Khorof Harar and Qarsa, with Khorof Harar emerging winners after edging out the KDF team in a closely contested final match. All participating teams displayed commendable talent and sportsmanship, and the winning teams were awarded uniform kits and footballs.
In addition to the sporting activities KDF conducted a free medical outreach and distributed foodstuffs and water to Konton Primary School and members of the local community. Earlier, they also held a Key Leadership Engagement (KLE) with prominent community stakeholders, focusing on security cooperation and information sharing.
While addressing the gathering, the Officer Commanding the troops expressed appreciation to the local community for maintaining a cordial relationship with the KDF. He urged them to continue sharing timely and valuable information to enhance overall security in the area.
The area administration, represented by Chief Hassan and Assistant Chief Garrat, encouraged the youth to act as peace ambassadors and to actively support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security.
The local community, in turn, expressed their sincere appreciation to the KDF for its continued efforts in ensuring peace and security in the area. They also thanked the troops for consistently engaging the youth through such activities and expressed optimism for more engagements to further strengthen cooperation.
