On Saturday 14 February 2026, the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) conducted a hiking excursion at Mount Kilimambogo in Machakos County. This event was led by Major General Eric Kinuthia, the Commandant JCSC, accompanied by the heads of departments, Directing Staff and the students of the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course (SJCSC 41-2025/26).
The challenging 19.2-kilometer hiking activity was officially flagged off by the Commandant at the Oldonyo Sabuk National Park Entry gate. The initiative is meticulously designed to cultivate essential leadership qualities, enhance physical fitness and foster cohesion, all of which are critical attributes for officers undertaking middle level command and staff training. In addition, the participants engaged directly with Kenya’s natural landscapes, reinforcing themes of sustainability and responsible leadership within diverse outdoor environments, integral to the broader course objectives.
