On Saturday, 9 August 2025, the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) conducted a hiking excursion at Ngong’ Hills in Kajiado County. The hiking event involved the College leadership, Heads of Departments, Directing Staff and students of the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course, SJCSC 41-2025/26.
The 12 km hike, was flagged off at the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) gate by the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, Brigadier D K Chesire. It was successfully completed at Kona Baridi despite the challenging terrain that was characterized by chilly and rainy morning weather.
Integrated into the College curriculum, the hike promotes mental and physical fitness by immersing participants in nature, enhancing cognitive function, creativity and problem-solving to support learning outcomes. In addition, it fosters environmental appreciation thereby aligning with course themes of sustainability and leadership in outdoor settings.
