Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel, along with other security contingents preparing for this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations in Homa Bay, took part in a large-scale tree planting exercise on 22nd May 2025. The event took place at Kodera Forest in Oyugis Municipality, Homa Bay County.
The team was led by Lt. Col. Daniel Musau and joined by several key officials, including Mr. Tobias Ouma representing the Governor, Chief Forest Conservator Ms. Sharon Cheluget, and Director of Inspectorate Mr. Walter Were. Together, they planted 10,000 trees as part of the Commander-in-Chief’s directive under the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign.
The initiative also brought together various stakeholders from the region, including representatives from the Homa Bay County Government, County Forest Association, and National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs), highlighting a collective commitment to environmental conservation.
