The Chief Instructors of African Command and Staff Colleges from 18 African nations convened in Kigali, Rwanda, from 21-24 July 2025, for the African Chief Instructors workshop.
The Chief Instructor Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC), Karen, Brigadier D K Chesire attended the workshop, which was officially opened by the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen M K Mubarakh, accompanied by Brig Gen Andrew Nyamvumba, Commandant of the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College who is the current chairman of the African Conference of Commandants (ACoC).
The workshop which precedes the African Conference of Commandants, aims to strengthen collaboration among African Command and Staff Colleges, enhance the quality, relevance of training, military education, and foster a common understanding on emerging threats and operational realities.
The forum provided a vital platform for aligning training doctrines, refining methodologies, and sharing strategic perspectives. Its outcomes are expected to significantly enhance the training frameworks and operational exercises within African military colleges, thereby strengthening the readiness and professionalism of African military officers.
