5TH EDITION OF THE COMMANDER KAF TROPHY GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 5th Edition of the Kenya Air Force Commander’s Trophy Golf Tournament was held at the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort in Naivasha on 7 March 2026.

The annual tournament forms part of the Ministry of Defence wellness programme aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and camaraderie among members of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

The tournament concluded with impressive performances across the various categories, reflecting the competitive spirit and sportsmanship of the participants. Senior Sergeant Winnie Ogutu emerged as the overall winner in the Kenya Defence Forces Golfers Association (KDFGA) category with 38 points, displaying remarkable skill and consistency throughout the competition.

Senior Sergeant Grace Kwamboka was crowned the KDFGA Lady Winner with 38 points while Major Brian Tororei finished as the KDFGA Division A Runner-Up. Mr Fredrick Wagura of the KAF Golf Club won the Guest Men Winner category with 42 points, while Mr Peter Mwaura from Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) clinched the Sponsor Winner title with 37 points. The event highlighted strong participation from the wider golfing community.

In his remarks, the Commander Kenya Air Force (KAF), Major General Bernard Waliaula, expressed his appreciation to the sponsors and participants for their continued support in ensuring the success of the tournament. He noted that golf plays a significant role in enhancing wellness, teamwork, and networking among service personnel and the wider golfing fraternity.

The Patron of the KDFGA, Major General Erick Kinuthia, commended the golfers for their commitment and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. He further thanked Maj Gen Waliaula for his leadership and continued support in promoting golf within the Kenya Air Force and the wider KDF community.

The tournament attracted participants from various categories, including serving and retired KDF officers as well as golfers drawn from clubs across the country.

The event underscored the importance of sports in strengthening cohesion, discipline, and the overall well-being of members of the Defence Forces.
