On 17 August 2025, the Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya, Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng’ang’a, led a pastoral visit to Our Lady of Assumption Church, Moi Air Base (MAB). The occasion featured a mass wedding, confirmations, and the diocesan Jubilee Mass in honour of the Holy Year of Hope.
The event was graced by the Deputy Commander Kenya Air Force, Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir, alongside the Base Commander MAB, Brigadier Herbert Wafula, senior officers, officers, service members, and families who turned up in large numbers for the historic celebration.
During the visit, Bishop Ng’ang’a confirmed 38 candidates, solemnised the marriages of eight couples, who included service members from MAB and presided over the Jubilee Mass that drew hundreds of congregants from within and beyond the base.
In his homily, the bishop urged the faithful to remain steadfast in faith, uphold family values, and live as witnesses of Christ’s hope in society. Drawing from the feast of Our Lady of Assumption, he reminded Christians that, like Mary visiting Elizabeth, they are called to serve one another generously and joyfully.
Turning to the newly wedded couples, Bishop Ng’ang’a said:
“Marriage is unique among the sacraments because the couple themselves are the ministers, giving consent to each other publicly and audibly. From today, you must live by the words you exchanged, forgive often, and protect your union from external interference.”
Addressing the youth, he described them as a sign of hope for both the Church and society, encouraging them to remain firm in truth and faith, to draw strength from the Eucharist, and to radiate joy even in times of trial.
“Youth are a sign of hope for our generation. Sometimes they are misunderstood, but they must be corrected with love. God never abandons us. Even when evil is plotted against us, He has good plans for our future,” he assured.
The pastoral visit concluded with special prayers for families, the newly confirmed, and the newly married couples. Bishop Ng’ang’a reminded the congregation that weddings are not only personal commitments but also public testimonies of love, unity, and faith.
