Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter, on Tuesday, 23 visited patients admitted at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital as part of continuous command engagement, leadership engagement, and troop welfare initiatives in line with his philosophy of effective leadership that begins with care for the soldier, “A Soldier-Centric Approach to Enhance Mission Readiness.
During the visit, Lt Gen Ketter interacted with service members and their dependants undergoing treatment, conveyed Christmas greetings, and extended best wishes for a full recovery and a productive New Year. He assessed the general welfare of the patients and the quality of medical care being provided, reaffirming that the wellbeing of personnel remains a command priority and a foundation of operational effectiveness.
Lt Gen Ketter encouraged the patients to remain resilient and disciplined throughout their recovery, reminding them that leadership is anchored in responsibility, empathy, and shared sacrifice. He emphasised that the Kenya Army’s strength is built on caring for its personnel and assured them of continued institutional support until full recuperation.
The visit reinforced the central role of morale and welfare in sustaining readiness and effectiveness while reflecting the Kenya Army’s enduring commitment to duty, service, and care for its personnel.
