The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers’ accommodation facilities in Karen, Nairobi. The project marks a significant milestone in the military’s ongoing welfare and infrastructure development programme.
During the ceremony, the CDF was briefed on the construction plan for the facility, which is scheduled for completion within one year. Upon completion, the project is expected to enhance officer welfare, boost morale, and support overall operational readiness.
The Karen accommodation project will comprise modern residential units designed to meet contemporary standards, along with supporting amenities aimed at providing a conducive living environment for officers. The facility will also help address the growing demand for housing within the Kenya Defence Forces, particularly in Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
General Kahariri commended all stakeholders involved in the project and urged the contractor to strictly adhere to approved timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements throughout the construction period.
The project forms part of a broader KDF housing programme being implemented across the country to improve service delivery and strengthen the welfare of military personnel.
General and senior military officers, officials from the Ministry of Defence, and project contractors were present at the ceremony.
