COMMAND GROUP TRAINING FOR UN DEPLOYMENT

 

The Deputy Army Commander (DAC), Maj Gen Mohamed Noor Hassan, officially opened a Command Group Pre-Deployment training for future United Nations deployment at Kahawa Garrison on 26th May 2025.

In his remarks, the DAC noted that the training is in line with UN policies that require all troops to be fully prepared before deployment and will see the course the participants trained by military and civilian experts.

“You will receive instructions from a team of experienced military personnel and highly qualified civilian experts from the International Peace Support Training Center (IPSTC). In addition, subject matter experts, including those with first-hand experience will share valuable insights drawn from their deployments in UN missions,” said the Deputy Army Commander.

Maj Gen Hassan further urged the course participants to ensure that the knowledge they will acquire in the training is shared with their troops.

The participants will be familiarised on UN Blue Training on gender, child protection, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), Rules of Engagement, code of conduct and discipline, UN core values, human rights law and Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) among others.

Present during the opening ceremony was the Commandant of IPSTC, Brigadier Joyce Sitienei, Kenya Army Chief of Training Brigadier Benedict Mzee, and the Kahawa Garrison Commander, Brigadier Mathew Lenamunai among other senior officers.
