In line with OAB’s strategic objective of securing the human and economic terrain in the Boni enclave, the multi-agency security delegation led by OAB Commander Brigadier Meshack Kishoyian conducted a Key Leadership Engagement forum in Mbwanjumwali and Kizingitini in Faza ward, Lamu East Constituency.
On arrival, Brigadier General Kishoyian was received at Kizingitini Police Station by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Martin Mwaka, who briefed him on the prevailing security environment.
The engagement brought together local administrators, community elders, youths and religious leaders and security agencies in a candid dialogue aimed at reinforcing trust, strengthening cooperation and fostering a shared commitment toward long-term stability and prosperity.
While speaking with members of the community, Brigadier General Kishoyian reaffirmed that Operation Amani Boni’s mission extends beyond neutralizing security threats to enabling a secure and stable environment where communities can pursue economic opportunities and social progress without fear. He emphasized that Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), working closely with other security agencies, remain committed to protecting civilians, upholding the rule of law, and safeguarding the gains achieved through sustained security operations. He further noted that peace and security are essential enablers of development, particularly in regions such as Lamu that hold significant national economic importance.
To reinforce these gains, the OAB Commander assured residents of intensified multi-agency operations, enhanced patrols in identified hotspots and strengthened security multi-agency operations targeting criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and incitement of violence. He underscored that these measures are designed not only to counter insecurity but also to protect livelihoods and support uninterrupted socio-economic activities.
Speaking on behalf of residents, Sheikh Muhammed Soko from Mbwanjumwali welcomed the continued engagement, noting that the enhanced security presence and open dialogue have contributed to improved stability and renewed confidence among residents. He expressed optimism that sustained collaboration would strengthen unity and enable communities to focus on development.
Similarly, Mr. Ahmed Muhdhar, Assistant Chief of Kizingitini, emphasized that such engagements provide an essential platform for resolving disputes, promoting reconciliation and fostering peaceful coexistence. He reaffirmed the local administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies and community leaders to sustain peace and support development initiatives.
The forums concluded with a renewed commitment by both security agencies and community leaders to maintain open communication, address underlying drivers of insecurity, and promote peaceful coexistence.
As Operation Amani Boni continues to enhance its operational footprint across the Boni region, the mission remains firmly anchored on consolidating security gains, strengthening community resilience and creating an enabling environment for sustainable development. Through sustained security presence and community partnership, OAB continues to serve as a critical pillar in safeguarding peace and supporting Kenya’s broader national development objectives.
