DAY TWO AND THREE OF CISM WORLD MILITARY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The second round of the CISM World Military Golf Championship, held on 25 June 2025, witnessed intensified competition under cool and overcast skies, resulting in notable shifts on the leaderboard.

In the men’s individual category, India’s Parmar Varoon held a narrow lead with a score of 4-over-par, closely followed by France’s Paul Emmanuel Cabbane at 5-over-par. In the women’s category, France’s Evangeline Prevot overtook reigning champion Pauline Stein to claim the top spot, while Uganda’s Flavia Namakula trailed in third place at 21-over-par.

France continued to dominate the team standings after round two, topping both the men’s and women’s categories with scores of 29-over-par and 14-over-par respectively. The South African men’s team showed strong resolve, climbing to second position with a combined 45-over-par.

Round three, played on Thursday, 26 June 2025, heightened the pressure as players in striking distance sought to improve their positions ahead of the final round. India’s Kumar Akash surged to the top of the men’s leaderboard at 3-over-par, displacing compatriot Parmar Varoon.

Despite the fierce competition, leading golfers remained composed and focused. The French men’s and women’s teams continued to assert their dominance, fending off close contenders with consistent play. In the women’s individual category, Evangeline Prevot and former champion Pauline Stein maintained their second-round standings at 8-over-par and 11-over-par respectively.

East African players also made a strong showing. Uganda’s women’s team held onto second place with a total of 78-over-par, while Tanzania’s women secured fourth place at 88-over-par.

One of the standout moments of round three was a hole-in-one by Latvia’s Artis Lusis at the 12th hole—the only ace of the championship thus far. Lusis described it as “a memorable moment.”

The level of play throughout the third round reflected a final-like intensity, with teams demonstrating remarkable precision and professionalism. Every stroke was measured, every putt deliberates, underscoring the players’ determination to secure the championship title.

Amid the battle for podium finishes, the spirit of camaraderie remained strong. Players cheered each other’s successes, embodying CISM’s mission to foster friendship and unity among soldiers through the power of sport.
