Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Soipan Tuya on Thursday held talks with Turkana North MP Hon. Ekwom Nabuim at Defence Headquarters on enhancing military presence along the Kenya–Ethiopia border in the Todonyang area.

The meeting, attended by Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, addressed key security issues, including the ongoing multi-agency Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) in the North Rift. It followed a request by Hon. Nabuim in the National Assembly regarding the killing of Kenyan fishermen on Lake Turkana and in neighbouring villages in February.

The Ministry of Defence announced plans to intensify patrols, bolster KDF troop deployment, and establish barracks and forward operating bases (FOBs) in the region to prevent future attacks.
