DEFENCE CS PRESENTS SUPPLEMENTARY I BUDGET ESTIMATES FOR FY 2025/2026 

Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Hon. Soipan Tuya today appeared before the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations to present the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Supplementary I Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2025/2026.

The session, chaired by Belgut Member of Parliament Hon. Nelson Koech, provided a platform for CS Tuya to outline the Ministry’s revised budget proposals and key expenditure priorities.

During her presentation, Hon. Tuya emphasized the Ministry’s continued focus on strengthening national security, advancing strategic programmes critical to operational readiness, and safeguarding the welfare of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel. She noted that the proposed allocations are aligned with the Ministry’s mandate to enhance defence capabilities while supporting ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery.

The CS further highlighted measures being implemented to promote efficiency, accountability, and prudent use of public resources. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to upholding transparency in financial management and ensuring that all budgetary provisions deliver value to the country.

Hon. Tuya was accompanied by the Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces Personnel & Logistics, Maj Gen Edward Rugendo; the Managing Director of Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation, Maj Gen George Okumu; and the Managing Commissioner of Kenya Meat Commission, Maj Gen Kampare Gula. Also present were senior Ministry officials and technical finance teams who supported the presentation.

The engagement forms part of the parliamentary approval process for supplementary budget estimates, as the government continues to align its expenditures with emerging priorities and national development objectives.
