DEFENCE HEADQUATERS ACADEMY HOLDS ITS CLOSING CEREMONY

The Defence Headquarters Academy held a closing ceremony presided over by the Commandant of the Defence Headquarters, Colonel Gideon Bebora. The event, held on Thursday, 23 October 2024, marked a significant milestone for pupils in Pre-primary 2 (PP2) and Grade 3, who will advance to the next grade level in the coming year.

The ceremony started with the Commandant’s inspection of a parade mounted by the Academy’s scouts. Pupils later performed songs and recited poems, celebrating their achievements and the completion of this stage in their education.

In his address, Col Bebora acknowledged the teaching staff and Board of Management’s (BOM) continued commitment to the success of the Academy. He thanked them for a stellar and well organized closing/end of year ceremony. He commended parents for their continued support for the learning institution and for their children even as they transition from one level to the next. He congratulated the graduates for their achievements and wished them a cheerful holiday season.

Ms. Beldina Atieno, the Head Teacher, expressed her gratitude to parents for their continuous support of the teachers’ efforts. She highlighted their dedication and commitment to ensuring that learning takes place. She also encouraged all parents to take time to know their children well and bond with them over the long holidays to ensure a balanced social growth.

Additionally, Ms. Atieno discussed the transition of the school from an Early Childhood Development (ECD) school focusing on lower primary education to a registered Public Primary School. She urged parents to remain committed to supporting their children’s education in all ways required, especially in the provision of learning resources.
