Defence Principal Secretary Dr Patrick Mariru today appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations at Bunge Towers.
The Committee chaired by Belgut MP Hon Nelson Koech, invited the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to respond to questions on activities of the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) and provide an update on the ongoing modernisation of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
In his responses, Dr Mariru affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and accountability, expressing full support to the committee in its oversight role and pledged continued cooperation in addressing issues of public interest.
Dr. Mariru was accompanied by senior MOD and KDF officials including Brig Samuel Kimani (Chief of Strategic Policy and Plans), Brig Edward Rugendo (Chief of Operations), Brig Yvonne Kerubo (Chief of Legal Services) and Director of Administration Mr Benjamin Odegi.
