DEFENCE PS HOSTS FOREIGN AFFAIRS COUNTERPART AT DHQ

Defence Principal Secretary Dr Patrick Mariru on 22nd July 25 hosted his Foreign Affairs counterpart Dr Korir Sing’oei at Defence Headquarters in a meeting to discuss the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) institutional housing programme.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is implementing a comprehensive KDF institutional housing programme that seeks to deliver 60,000 units through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

Phase I of the programme which is underway in Roysambu, Kwambuzi, Lanet, Gilgil and Mariakani Barracks will deliver a total of 3,069 houses in a Build and Transfer arrangement.

MOD undertook ground breaking of Phase II of the programme that will deliver 10,095 units in Embakasi, Kahawa and Lang’ata Barracks last month, while discussions for 15,000 units in Phase III are underway.

The State Department for Foreign Affairs is seeking a cost-effective and sustainable approach to develop its over 60 properties, mostly dilapidated structures and open plots, spread across the world.
