The Kenya Defence Forces Rifle Association (DEFRA) emerged victorious at the Highland Minerals Trophy 2025 shooting competition held at the KDF Range Laikipia from December 3-6, 2025. The competition attracted shooters from various teams, including the Kenya Police Service (KPS), NIS, DCI, APS, and Kenya Regiment Rifle Club (KRRC). The event showcased exceptional marksmanship, with several competitors posting impressive scores.
Ssgt Brenda Ajiambo topped the overall standings with a score of 544.20 out of a possible score of 600 at distances of 300, 500,600, 800 and 900 meters leading her team to glory. In the individual categories, IP Clifford Kiptarus (KPS) took top honors in the SX1 category with a score of 536.37, while Moses Wachira (NIS) won the SX2 category with 533.22 points.
KPS dominated the X1 and O1 categories, with Christopher Mulongo and Ssgt Fredrick Mwema scoring 519.34 and 515.27, respectively. DEFRA’s Sgt Nicholas Lengorien and Ssgt Peter Kosgei took the X2 and O2 categories, scoring 519.19 and 490.16, respectively.
The T1 and T2 categories were won by Sgt Antony Mbaluka (DEFRA) and Susanne Njoroge (KPS), with scores of 485.24 and 482.16, respectively.
The Highland Minerals Trophy is a prestigious event in the Kenyan Fullbore shooting calendar, and this year’s competition did not disappoint. With top-notch competition and exceptional performances.
