The Defence Forces Recruit Training School (DFRTS), under the leadership of the Commandant, Brig J K Kipya on 09 May 2025 conducted a large-scale tree planting exercise in line with the Commander-in-Chief’s directive on the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign. This initiative resulted in the planting of 50,000 trees of various species, marking a significant contribution to environmental conservation and sustainability. It further reinforced the institution’s role as a center of excellence in ecological preservation.
The exercise involved both DFRTS personnel and participants of the Skill at Arms course, on-going at the institution, fostering environmental conservation ethics among students.
During the event, the Commandant addressed participants, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship in combating climate change through afforestation. He commended their dedication and stressed that achieving national environmental goals requires collective effort to ensure a greener and healthier environment for future generations.
