FOOTBALL BRINGS COMMUNITIES TOGETHER IN CHEMWATIT PEACE TOURNAMENT

Chemwatit area in Baringo County came alive during a one-day football tournament that brought together local youth, humanitarian and security agencies in a celebration of talent, unity, and peace.

The tournament, organized by Kingdom Builders International Ministries with support from the Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) Multi-Agency Command Centre (MACC), featured six teams: Loruk, Lemuyek, Chemosoi, Chemuwet, Chapilat, and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Spectators turned up in large numbers to cheer their teams, creating a vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie. The matches were not just about competition but also about building trust and encouraging cooperation among local communities. Sports, the organizers emphasized, provided a safe and positive outlet for young people, steering them away from conflict and towards unity.

The day culminated in a thrilling final match between Chapilat and KDF. Both teams displayed skill and determination, but Chemuwet emerged victorious with a narrow 2–1 win, earning the championship title.

The Chemwatit football tournament underscored how sports can be used as a powerful tool for reconciliation and community building, while also reaffirming KDF’s commitment to working alongside local leaders and organizations to secure lasting peace in the North Rift.
