Gilgil Garrison has successfully concluded a week-long Officers Induction Seminar designed to prepare newly posted officers for leadership and operational responsibilities within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
The seminar, held under the stewardship of Gilgil Garrison leadership, brought together young officers for intensive sessions focused on command structures, military ethics, regimental traditions, and hands-on leadership exercises. The initiative aimed to equip the officers with the foundational skills and values necessary for effective service in their new roles.
Speaking during the seminar’s closing ceremony, presided over by Gilgil Garrison Commander Brigadier Joel Cherutich, on behalf of General Officer Commanding (GOC) WestCom Major General Jeff Nyagah, lauded the officers for their discipline and active participation.
“This seminar marks the foundation of your leadership journey in the service. The knowledge and values of discipline, professionalism, and patriotism you have acquired here will be critical as you take up your roles,” said Brigadier Cherutich.
Beyond academic instruction, the seminar offered young officers a rare opportunity to engage with experienced commanders, fostering mentorship, camaraderie, and a deeper understanding of the responsibilities they now shoulder.
The induction is a key milestone in the KDF’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of officers grounded in tradition yet prepared for diverse challenges of modern military service.
