GOC EASTCOM VISITS TROOPS

General Officer Commanding (GOC) Eastern Command Maj Gen L K Kutto recently visited KDF troops in the Wajir area. This comes as part of his ongoing tour aimed at interacting with the troops, assessing the Forward Operating Bases (FOB) operational readiness and understanding challenges facing the troops.

Maj Gen Kutto visited Upper Eastern Sector where he was apprised on progress of OPS ONDOA JANGILI 2 and achievements made by the Multi-Agency (MA) team by the Commanding Officer – 23 Mechanised Infantry Battalion and Multi Agency Commanders.

He held a baraza at Moyale Odds Camp, commending the soldiers for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to peace and security, while urging them to remain vigilant and perform their duties professionally.

Later, while accompanied by CO 23 MIB , he took part in a 2 days’ workshop at Koket, that aimed at enhancing regional security, combating wildlife crime and curtailing all illicit trade.
He further visited Sector Central which includes Konton, Gherille, and Diff FOBs

In Sector South, he visited Dadajibula, Liboi, Jaradam, and Hamey FOBs. Sector North included Elwak, Damasa, Omar Jillo and Mandera FOBs.

During his visit, he emphasized the critical importance of maintaining a strong security mind-set among the troops, urging them to remain vigilant and proactive in all circumstances. He highlighted the need for constant situational awareness, stressing that understanding and anticipating potential threats is essential to effective defence operations. By staying alert and informed, the troops would be better equipped to respond swiftly to emerging challenges and prevent any breaches.

He further reminded them of their vital role in protecting the nation’s territorial integrity, reinforcing that their commitment and discipline are the backbone of national stability and sovereignty. Through continued dedication and a unified sense of purpose, he encouraged them to uphold their duty with pride, professionalism, and an unwavering focus on security at all times.
