Thirty-three years after their formative days at the then Armed Forces Training College, members of Intake 27 reunited at the Jamhuri International Trade Fair Grounds for a vibrant anniversary gathering that brought together serving and retired officers from Kenya and allied nations.
The reunion, held on 29 December 2025, drew senior officers, including Assistant Chief of Defence Forces Personnel and Logistics, Maj Gen Elijah Rugendo.
Attendees honoured 21 Kenyan officers and several allied colleagues who have since passed on, reflecting on the journey that shaped their military careers and lifelong camaraderie.
As the fourth edition of their reunion, the event provided an opportunity for shared memories and candid discussions, ranging from lessons in navigating civilian life to recollections of defining moments during their training.
Members called for sustained unity, regular networking, and support across the Intake. Lt (Rtd) Mermer, who spent the year tracing colleagues across the country, was appointed the group’s ambassador to maintain contact with members who had drifted away.
In his address, Maj Gen Rugendo commended the organisers and encouraged the team to make the reunion an annual event hosted in different regions. The day ended with a raffle featuring memorabilia branded Intake 27/92 @ 33.
Among the notable officers from Intake 27 are Maj Gen A. Burje, Maj Gen E. Rugendo, Brig E. Gatere, Brig E. Banda, Brig S. Huria, Brig V. Mburu, Brig M. Leriari, Col (Rtd) S. Magiri, Lt Col G. Mwandago, Maj (Rtd) E. Ikua and Maj (Rtd) Hon. Bashir.
