KDF CONDUCTS PRE-MILITARY GOLF TOURNAMENT MEDICAP IN KWALE

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) medical team in conjunction with Kwale County Government health workers on 21 June 2025, conducted a free medical camp at Leisure Rondwe Jalaram girls secondary school – Kwale County. The KDF team was led by Colonel (Dr) Oyoo Were.

The exercise whose aim was to strengthen civil-military relations and support community health, is an extension to the 16th CISM World Military Golf Championship, riding on the theme “Friendship through Sport” which starts on Monday 23rd June 2025 at the Diamond Leisure Resort and Golf Club.

The doctors, drawn from different KDF Services and Kwale County health facilities, engaged with residents, treating them for various illnesses, including dental, physiotherapy, provision of lab services, nutrition consultation, and ophthalmology. Women were also sensitised on the risks of breast and cervical cancers, signs, symptoms and also received free screening for both.

Local leaders and residents warmly welcomed the support and expressed their gratitude for the medical services offered. They affirmed their commitment to working closely with the KDF in ensuring their communities benefit from such services even in the future.

The event reflects KDF’s ongoing commitment to promoting good relations with the community through the provision of healthcare services that fulfil aid to civil authority – one of their core mandates.
