Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel and their families continue to settle into newly constructed modern housing units at Roysambu Military Camp, marking a significant milestone in the Force’s ongoing welfare enhancement programme aimed at improving the living standards of service members.
The housing project, commissioned on Thursday, 26 February 2026, by His Excellency Dr. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, comprises modern two-bedroom and three-bedroom units designed to provide dignified and comfortable accommodation for KDF personnel and their families.
Since the commissioning, personnel have progressively moved into the houses. The continued settlement reflects the growing uptake of the units as more service members transition into the new estate.
Personnel who have already occupied the units have expressed appreciation for the modern housing, noting that the new accommodation significantly reduces their housing expenses while improving their quality of life. Many also observed that living in well-planned and modern housing boosts morale and enables them to focus more effectively on their duties.
To further enhance the quality of life for residents, the housing project incorporates essential social amenities, including a school, a medical center and a Defence Forces Welfare Services (DEFWES) shopping centre. These facilities are expected to ease daily life for occupants and create a convenient and supportive living environment within the camp.
The initiative reflects the KDF’s sustained institutional commitment to providing secure, modern, and habitable living environments for its personnel. It aligns with the Force’s broader mandate of safeguarding national security while maintaining a robust personnel support system that enhances operational effectiveness and promotes family stability.
