The Kenya Defence Forces Directorate of Medical Services led by Director of Medical Services Major General George Nganga on Tuesday, 8th July 2025 held talks with representatives from the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), led by KEMRI Director Professor Elijah Songok, at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.
The talks are an aftermath of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between KDF and KEMRI aimed at achieving collaboration on Research in Health Security. The two teams deliberated on the operationalisation of the MOU, with the Technical Working Group presenting their recommendations.
Consequently, the final report will be presented to KDF leadership for approval, which will pave way for execution of the MOU.
The meeting was attended by among others, Chief of Medical Services Brigadier (Dr) Muithya Ngundo, Chief of Clinical Support Services Brigadier (Dr) Japheth Ndegwa, Chief of Army Medical Services Brigadier (Dr) Ismael Awle among other senior KDF Officers and KEMRI personnel.
