KDF RECRUITMENT EXERCISE ACROSS LAMU COUNTY

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment team concluded its field recruitment exercise in Lamu County, covering Mpeketoni, Lamu Central, and Faza recruitment centres. The exercise marked the completion of a rigorous process in the region, aimed at identifying and enlisting qualified, disciplined, and physically fit young Kenyans into the Service.

Supervised by Senior Recruiting Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Eliud Nangole, the exercise drew hundreds of candidates across Lamu County who turned up early at the designated centres to participate in the selection process. Potential candidates underwent a series of assessment stages, including scrutiny and identification academic documents, physical fitness evaluations, medical examinations, and structured interviews to determine their suitability for service.

Lieutenant Colonel Nangole commended the candidates for their discipline, composure, and determination, noting that the turnout reflected the growing enthusiasm of the youth to serve their country.

Speaking during the exercise, the senior medical officer Lieutenant Colonel Wasike observed that a number of young applicants were eliminated due to varied medical challenges. Lieutenant Colonel Wasike noted that amoung the issues was drug abuse which continues to undermine the potential of otherwise capable candidates, disqualifying them from opportunities for national service. They emphasized the need for community-driven interventions, awareness campaigns, and mentorship programs to help address this concern and guide the youth toward healthier, more productive paths.

Local administrators and community representatives who witnessed the exercise commended the KDF for conducting the recruitment professionally. They noted that such recruitment exercise not only provide valuable employment opportunities for local youth but also strengthen cooperation between security institutions and the communities they serve.

The recruitment exercise in Lamu County reaffirmed the Kenya Defence Forces’ unwavering dedication to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and equal opportunity in its enlistment process, ensuring that every qualified candidate is given a fair and transparent chance to serve the nation.
