KDF RECRUITMENT EXERCISE SPOT CHECK

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) successfully conducted a recruitment exercise in Gilgil, Nakuru County, as part of its nationwide drive to enlist qualified, disciplined, and physically fit young Kenyans into the Service. The event, held at Gilgil Stadium, was streamed live on KDF platforms to promote transparency and educate the public on the recruitment process.

Supervised by Chief Recruiting Officer Brigadier Samuel Kimani, the exercise attracted hundreds of hopeful candidates from the region. Applicants underwent a comprehensive assessment process that included academic document verification, physical fitness tests, medical examinations, and structured interviews. Brigadier Kimani praised the candidates for their discipline, composure, and determination, noting that the strong turnout reflects a growing desire among the youth to serve the nation.

Senior Recruitment Officer Lieutenant Colonel David Awuando described the process as smooth and cooperative. However, he noted that several candidates were disqualified due to medical issues, including drug abuse—an ongoing challenge that disqualifies otherwise capable individuals.

Area Chief Mr. John Thuku, who witnessed the recruitment, lauded the KDF for conducting the exercise with professionalism. He emphasized the significance of such opportunities in offering youth meaningful employment and a role in national development and security.

The Gilgil recruitment exercise reaffirmed KDF’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and equal opportunity, ensuring that all qualified candidates are given a fair and transparent chance to serve the country.

While in Athi River, Machakos County the Kenya Defence Forces recruitment team conducted a successful recruitment exercise. The exercise, which saw a high turnout of prospective candidates and various media houses was rigorous and merit based.

Chief Recruiting Officer, Brigadier Samuel Kimani oversaw the process commending participants for their diligence and determination to be enlisted into KDF. He further encouraged the public to be part of the process through reporting any incidences of bribery or corruption through relevant hotlines. Additionally, he emphasized that the process has been streamlined to ensure inclusivity.

“The Constitution of Kenya requires that the national security organs recruit from all over Kenya in order to ensure regional balance,” He said.

Noting successes that the process has had so far, Brig. Kimani encouraged the youth that inclusion of digital tools to the recruitment process will ensure eradication of potential biases during selection process. This is aimed at ensuring that only qualified candidates are enlisted.

Speaking during the exercise, Senior Recruitment Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Kikechi acknowledged that the process was smooth and without any incidences. He noted that the high turnout of the youth indicates patriotism amongst the youth who are willing to defend the territorial integrity of their country.

Transparency in the recruitment process enables KDF to present equal opportunities to the youth. Thus leading to achievement of the KDF’s vision to be a premier, credible and mission capable force deeply rooted in professionalism.
