KDF STRENGTHENS COMMUNITY BONDS THROUGH CIMIC ENGAGEMENT AT IRESUKI

KDF troops operating in Elwak on 04 June 2025 conducted a joint Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) and Key Leader Engagement (KLE) activity at Iresuki settlement. The event aimed to strengthen the positive relationship between security forces and the local community, fostering unity and mutual support in the ongoing efforts to pacify the Iresuki Triangle.

The activity was led by Major Chesakit of KDF, in close coordination with representatives from the Border Patrol Unit (BPU), the County Government, and National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO).

The engagement commenced with a baraza at Iresuki Primary School, where residents interacted freely with the security teams and local administrators. Community representatives expressed gratitude for the visible transformation in the area, crediting the permanent presence of KDF troops with restoring peace and deterring unlawful elements.

Residents also shared their appreciation for renewed stability, noting improved night-time safety and increased freedom of movement. With the deployment of KDF, confidence is growing among families to resume normal routines and rebuild livelihoods.

The community also expressed renewed hope in development, including the possibility of restored communication infrastructure and greater access to social services, anchored on the continued presence of KDF and the expected return of essential service providers.

Addressing the gathering, Assistant County Commissioner, Mr. Fatah, commended the unity between the security forces and the people, urging residents to continue supporting peace initiatives. He encouraged parents to take their children to school, stating that education is key to community growth and future prosperity.

In his remarks, Major Chesakit appreciated the warm cooperation from Iresuki residents and reaffirmed KDF’s commitment to maintaining peace and securing the region. He called upon villagers who had previously relocated to consider returning home, assuring them that the area is safe with security forces in firm control. He further pledged continued CIMIC support activities aimed at improving the community’s welfare and morale. As part of the engagement, foodstuffs were distributed, and over 80 residents received medical attention from the KDF medical team.

The event concluded successfully, reinforcing the strong bond between KDF and the residents of Iresuki. The mood was one of unity, confidence, and renewed belief that lasting peace is not only possible but sustainable.
