KDF TROOPS DELIVER HOPE TO QUEENSTAR KIDS

On Saturday August 30, 2025, troops from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) undergoing training in Nanyuki region, brought smiles to the faces of orphaned children at Queenstar Children’s Home with a heartfelt donation of assorted supplies.

The visit, part of the KDF’s Humanitarian Civic Assistance (HCA) program, underscored the military’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities while fostering goodwill. The soldiers delivered essential items, including food, clothing, and school supplies to the community-based organization located on the outskirts of Nanyuki town. The event saw KDF personnel engage with the children, aged between 3 and 13 years, who call Queenstar Children’s Home their sanctuary.

Established in 2016, the facility provides shelter, food, clothing and school fees for its young residents, all of whom are orphaned. The home relies heavily on the generosity of well-wishers to sustain its operations, making the KDF’s contribution a significant boost to its mission of nurturing hope and opportunity for the children.

Captain Eric Mwashegwa, who led the KDF community engagement team, emphasized the importance of the initiative in bridging the gap between the military and local communities.

“Our training here in Nanyuki is not just about building our operational readiness; it’s also about giving back to the communities that host us,” he noted.

The troops spent the day interacting with the children, sharing stories and even organizing impromptu games, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie at the Home. Mr. Abdikadir Duba, the Home’s Administrator, expressed profound gratitude for the KDF’s support.

“We are deeply grateful for your generous donation to Queenstar Home. Your compassionate support has made a meaningful difference in the lives of these children. This gesture illustrates a commitment to serving not only our nation’s security but also our community’s welfare which demonstrates the true spirit of national service,” he noted.

The Administrator observed that contributions like those from the KDF are a lifeline, enabling the home to provide a stable environment where the children can thrive despite their challenging circumstances.

The troops’ visit not only delivered the much-needed supplies but also sent a powerful message of solidarity, reminding the children that they are not alone in their journey. As they left, the children’s laughter echoed across the compound, a testament to the impact of the day’s activities.
