KDF troops based at Damasa emerged victorious in a friendly football match against Damasa United FC at Damasa Stadium. During the match, both teams demonstrated excellent skill, discipline, and teamwork. The game ended with a 2-1 win against Damasa United FC.
The event underscores the important role sport plays in promoting and strengthening peace and stability, social cohesion, cooperation, synergy, and trust between local communities and security agencies. KDF has demonstrated this commitment through such events, amongst other programs.
The event was graced by the Officer Commanding the troops, who in his address to the youth thanked them for their huge turnout, display of excellent skills, discipline and team work during the match, he further emphasized the importance of cooperation between the local community and the security forces to foster peace and promote development within the region. He reminded the youth that such sporting activities promote talent and help keep the youth engaged away from violent and extremist groups.
As a gesture of goodwill and continued partnership, the Officer Commanding donated football kit and balls to Damasa United FC, which were received by the coach and team captain.
The youth and the community expressed profound gratitude for the generosity and reaffirmed their solid support and continued partnership. They further highlighted the military efforts towards promoting peace, unity, and development in the region and welcomed more of such initiatives.
