KDF TROOPS SUPPORT LEARNERS AT CHEMOLINGOT

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) extended their mandate beyond security by supporting young learners at AIC Sunrise Junior School in Chemolingot, Baringo County. As part of their community outreach, the troops distributed school uniforms to over 332 children, many of whom have been affected by insecurity in the region.

The initiative, which was promised by former OMU Commander Brigadier S. M. Huria, aimed to ease the financial burden on families grappling with the effects of banditry and displacement while fostering trust between the security forces and the local community. Brigadier Huria fulfilled the pledge by delivering the uniforms to the young learners, helping to restore their dignity and confidence. The gesture reaffirmed KDF’s commitment to regional stability through education.

Operations Officer OMU, Major Jairus Kakai, reiterated KDF’s dedication to sustainable peace. He noted that true security encompasses opportunities for children to learn and thrive, emphasizing that investment in education is critical to the long-term stability of the region. He urged learners to remain focused, disciplined, and resilient, reminding them that education is a powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty and build a better future.

Tiaty West Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. Aaron Omaset, commended the KDF for their ongoing support, describing the gesture at AIC Sunrise as a reflection of their broader mission to rebuild communities beyond security operations. He also encouraged learners to embrace education as a key to restoring hope and shaping a peaceful future.

Bishop Yusuf Lusute of AIC Chemolingot applauded the KDF’s intervention, stressing the importance of sustained investment in education as a long-term solution to insecurity. He emphasized that addressing the root causes of instability requires both enforcement and compassionate empowerment.
