KDF TROOPS UNDERTAKE TREE PLANTING AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH IN SAMBURU

KDF troops from the 60 Army Special forces Battalion (ASB), deployed at Learoni area under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) joined the Dedan Kimathi Foundation and the Kenya Forest Service in a tree planting exercise across Samburu County as part of preparations for the upcoming Mazingira Day celebrations.

The exercise saw the team plant over 2,000 tree seedlings at Siambu, Lesidai, Pura, Lolkunono, and Loosuk Primary Schools. The initiative was aimed at promoting environmental conservation, restoring degraded ecosystems, and instilling sustainable practices among learners and the community.

Further, the troops donated tree seedlings and sanitary pads to the Samburu Girls Foundation based at Loosuk Centre, reaffirming KDF’s commitment to supporting both environmental stewardship and the welfare of young girls in the region.

The activity highlighted KDF’s dual role in ensuring security while actively contributing to community development and national environmental goals, in line with the spirit of Mazingira Day, later in the month.
